A "change of basis" is an action performed in linear algebra, whereby a change in fundamental structure yields an entirely new viewpoint. This blog began as a record of a pedagogical change of basis for me, and continues as an ongoing account of my thoughts as I design and direct courses in mathematics at the University of North Carolina, Asheville.

I know you'll soon ask us mortals what each aspect of our work in calc II should be worth (and I have no idea!), so I'd really like to hear about what you consider a portfolio to be and how you might evaluate it. It sounds like an interesting way of evaluating our work, and I'd like to hear the details. Of course, it can wait until class tomorrow or thursday, especially since its 1 am and I'm still getting over a nasty bug. Until tomorrow!
